The AMD RX 6900 XT increased the most in price, possibly due to a greater than expected drop in price last month. The card with the most volume, and in close competition to the RTX 3070, the Radeon RX 6700 XT, increased in price by 8 percent. Meanwhile, the scalper volume of AMD's higher end GPUs is very low, suggesting that AMD is mostly making their mid-range offerings at the moment. Based on what we've seen so far in 2021, GPU prices may continue to slowly fall over the next few months, but there's still the question if pricing will ever return to MSRP levels and if that's even achievable until component shortages and ridiculous logistics costs settle down. Now looking at the 5700 XT comparison at 1440p, we find that performance is a tie overall, which is probably more impressive for the Radeon GPU given it was quite a bit cheaper, though it did arrive two years later, so that's to be expected even in today's GPU market.

Anyway, we're not here to feed into your growing GPU depression, and maybe, just maybe we can put a positive spin on this one. Not sure how, but we'll work that out as we go... It's a similar story at 1440p, the 5700 XT had a slight performance advantage, but we're talking about a mere 5% difference. Older games like The Witcher 3 and War Thunder, or Unreal engine games such as PUBG and The Outer Worlds is where the GTX 1080 Ti does best, while it's typically the latest titles where it performs at its worst. The final point to talk about with mining is that with all these recent updates – higher Ethereum prices but lower payouts and all of that – actually mining Ethereum isn't always what miners are doing on their GPUs. The RTX 2080 Ti manages just 47fps on average, while the GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2080 manage 38fps. Overall, the gap between the Ti cards is around 25 per cent. Of course, a G-Sync monitor would allow for playable results at 4K, no matter which card of the three that you're using - especially if you're willing to drop from the ridiculous ultra preset to a more sensible high or very high.
