Description

I bought some sealskinz a while back along with goretex MTB shoes after getting terrible hot aches in winter, and then going with a mate who had no problems as he had this kit.

They were expensive, bulky as hell in the gear drawer, and forget about adjusting any boa dials with them on. The waterproof PTFE membrane is in the middle, which keeps water from entering while letting moisture from your warm feet out.Normally we wore them alone, but a few times we layered other sock beneath them, depending on the temperature and footwear fit. Featuring glue and blind-stitch construction to prevent cold water flushing and help keep your feet warm, along with a comfortable seam layout designed to maximise comfort when sailing. After 5 hours cycling and running in wind rain and snow yesterday my feet stayed warm and dry, wearing Sealskinz. For most of my off-road running years, there was no alternative to wet feet, so I guess I just got used to that.

The trick is just to get shoes/socks that fit well (no rubbing), drain well and don't go sloppy when wet (minimal unnecessary padding). I have mentioned many times on this site that my family and I moved here so I could cycle year round. However, a little trick taught to me years ago is that when you have a substantial break, give your feet, socks and boots a break as well.I see the same is true for a lot of people on here, but I've had quite a few pairs of Sealskinz (and some cheapy Aldi equivalents) and don't think any of them weren't letting water at least a bit within 5 runs, let alone 5 years.
