Tyrolean hats are called by a number of different names so it's no surprise the term "Bavarian hat" would be used to label this green headwear. Bavaria itself is a federal state in Germany, boasting the country's third largest city. If a member of your family was born in Munich, it's easy to see why you'd know Tyrolean hats as Bavarian hats instead! Either way, no one's wrong and everyone's happy when they get German hats as gifts. "Austrian Hat"You may give it a different name, but the German hat you're looking for is definitely a "Tyrolean" hat. This association comes from the history of Tyrol itself, which was a part of the Alps in what has now become four different countries - one being Germany. Tomato, tomato: you can say it either way, but it's still a great German gift for men who have roots in Deutschland. Pair it with a masculine pin and your gift will be a standout! "Alpine Hat" A typical Tyrolean hat is made of green felt, which originally had a crown tapering to a point and a brim roughly the width of a hand, something that was especially common in the Zillertal, a Tyrollian valley in Austria. The Tyrolean hat ( German: Tirolerhut, Italian: cappello alpino), also Tyrolese hat, Bavarian hat or Alpine hat, is a type of headwear that originally came from the Tyrol in the Alps, in what is now part of Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. It is an essential and distinctive element of the local folk costume, or tracht. Alpinestars is a brand that focuses on quality and performance in everything they do. With their product development in clothing and equipment for motorsport, they have become a respected brand within clothing, accessories and caps. Some best-selling caps are the Alpinestars Corp Shift 2 Flexfit, Astar Flexfit and Blaze Flexfit. These Alpinestars caps are hallmarks of the Alpinestars brand, as well as being the best-selling models. Alpinestars is, as previously mentioned, a giant within motorsports and they sponsor several teams in Formula 1, Moto GP and NASCAR. Aside from sponsoring these teams, they also have contracts with many famous drivers, including Jeff Gordon, Nico Hülkenberg, Marc Márquez and others. These partnerships are the foundation of Alpinestars’s marketing, which means that they get a lot of exposure in at useful events. [5] It is said that the Tyrolean hat was the inspiration for the homburg, [6] a style popularized beyond its native Germanic region by his grandfather, Edward VII. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Tyrolean costumes developed a certain degree of uniformity in their appearance. In the local village costumes of the Tyrol, the various styles of Tyrolean hat have survived since the 1830s/1840s, albeit similar to those of contemporary fashion. These original forms vary from the tall, relatively narrow-brimmed hats of North Tyrol which were dented on top, to the small, wide-brimmed hats of the South Tyrolean wine country.Later the Tyrolean hat became the image bearer of "Tyrolean culture" as a tourist symbol, very popular at folk gatherings and beer festivals, such as the Munich Oktoberfest, and influenced by folk music bands who wore fanciful "local" costumes. The musician, Billy Mo, wrote a song in 1962 called " Ich kauf' mir lieber einen Tirolerhut" ("I Prefer to Buy a Tyrolean Hat"), which reinforced the link between the hat and traditional Alpine (brass band) folk music. In 1965, a comedy musical appeared under the same title. [4] One of Alpen Schatz's most popular imports for years has been it's German Alpine breathable boiled wool felt hats. These amazing Alpine hats are worn by the Germans, Austrians, Northern Italians and Swiss. The hats are typically adorned with either a feather or a gamsbart and theme pins. A defining feature of Alpinestars is their iconic logo - an 'A' with a shooting star. This logo, which adorns all their caps, has become a significant symbol in motorsport and is instantly recognizable to fans and enthusiasts alike.
