About this deal

Like the HT2550 it has a Brilliant Color function that can be turned On or Off (no incremental scale of 1 to 10 as on many DLP projectors).

Also, while its enhanced colours outperform rival HDR projectors, Fury Road’s deserts can look a little radioactive, and its skin tones
can look slightly orange. megapixel UHD 4K resolution, 3000 lumens of brightness and projection-optimized HDR for stunning 4K image quality. Both of these projectors have an array of picture controls that will allow you to alter color balance, saturation, black levels, sharpness/resolution, and so forth. Countering the trapezoid effect when the projector must be placed off-center such as simple placement on top of a table the vertical keystone function adjusts the image for a professionally squared image. Or you could even use it outdoors shining on to a white sheet or the side of your house for a World Cup party.

resolution is particularly astonishing at such large scale, and we absolutely loved the way that it transformed our home into a comfortable mini-cinema. Gaming is another area where we expected the TK800 to do well, but an input lag of 40ms may put some gamers at a disadvantage, although our short stints on Far Cry 5 and Forza 7 didn’t seem laggy to us, but we would probably suggest a demo to test it for yourself if you are the competitive gamer.

We set about finding the best settings out of the box to get the image as close as possible to the industry standards for white balance and colour. To further confirm my observations, I watched titles that I own in both 1080p and Ultra HD formats to make a few back-to-back comparisons. As a home-entertainment projector—as opposed to a home-theater projector—it will likely perform better than most low-cost models in a room with ambient light, but not as good in a darkened home theater as models without a white segment in their color wheels, especially in terms of black level. It was like the gods of fate had swept us up into their arms and tenderly kissed our foreheads when BenQ’s TK800 True 4K HDR projector arrived just in time for this year’s FIFA World Cup. Unfortunately, the TK800M offers no lens shift, which is a far better solution to problematic placement than keystone correction.Especially when the PJ also delivers its high brightness without suffering heavily with DLP’s rainbow effect, or kicking out too much in the way of cooling fan noise. There was light from the bulb escaping through the air vents in the chassis, and we could now see a lighter area around the edges of image. The 3D effect is convincing and subtle, black levels look remarkably good, and the TK800’s exceptional light output means that 3D visuals don’t look starved of brightness, which can be an issue with low-cost 3D projectors.

And custom Football and Sport modes with powerful sound put you in the action as if you're in the stadium all in a stylish compact design with easy setup. With Brilliant Color on, the extra white light improves contrast, neutralizes the greenish tint in the color calibration and shifts the image toward a more neutral but still cool, bluish cast. After a little prodding, BenQ managed to send over a pair
of 3D glasses so I could check the TK800’s stereoscopic capabilities. The TK800 is one of the brightest 3D projectors I’ve ever reviewed and that extra output really helped enhance the effect. When compared to other HDR displays, the TK800 exhibits decent grayscale tracking in HDR Cinema mode.

The TK800 follows the DCI-P3 color targets along the proper hue line but most of the points are under-saturated. Peak highlights are also clipped down to the native capability of the projector, meaning the HDR image is pretty poor when it comes to contrast and dynamic range performance.
