About this deal

We found the robot runs for about 1.5 hours in dry mode with medium suction before needing to recharge, which is enough to clean the main floors. You can extend the run time by setting a lower suction strength in the settings. Like most other robot vacuums, the SpinWave features a main brush roll on the bottom, plus dual edge-cleaning brushes. Small spaces including apartments (as long as not cluttered) and midsize homes should do well. Large spaces are fine, too, but battery may need recharging to fully cover a larger home.

Self-propelling /swiveling: It’s not technically self-propelled, but the spinning action helps you push it with very little effort. The swiveling head maneuvers around furniture and gets into corners well. Most of the time, you'll probably run it in Auto mode so it mops everywhere, but Bissell recommends using Spot mode with its sanitizing formula to clean up concentrated messes, like pet accidents. To do this, simply place the robot in the center of the area you want to clean, then select Spot mode in the app. Your floor will likely be wet and slippery after running the SpinWave in Spot mode, so use caution until it dries.

If you don’t want to put any effort toward cleaning your floors, and you’re willing to pay for that convenience, then the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni should be at the top of your list. It scrubs and cleans well and navigates efficiently, so it works in homes with lots of room and plenty of floor space. It also handles pet hair without tangles in case you have furry roommates. From there, it walks you through the setup process. Press Get Started, select the SpinWave Robot from the list, turn it on if you haven't already done so, and press OK. The app then instructs you to locate a QR code under the dustbin and scan it with your phone to start the pairing process.

No matter how you run the Bissell SpinWave R5, it is surprisingly quiet as it maxes out at just 60dB when in use. While certainly not silent, it's not distracting in the same way as a typical vacuum and is much quieter than other robot vacuums I've used, particularly budget and mid-priced Roomba models. Cons: the app kinda glitchy. Sometimes the connection with the robot is lagging. Battery life cleans our entire downstairs (1000sq ft) with one charge and has more juice left but not enough to do say a dry mode immediately followed by a wet mode. We have a semi professional GE cafe range and with no zone set up it tries to go under it even tho the top part is too high. The robot has also "mapped" through the sliding glass door and it does try to get out through the glass. So we had to set up a zone for that. Speaking of zones, my last complaint is one time I put it in our downstairs bathroom and closed the door and ran it, and it lost all mapping we previously had done - you can't bring it up and down stairs without redoing the mapping. Really quiet operation--not silent, but quiet enough you can watch TV or take a phone call with it running We also like the "spot" cleaning feature, where you set it in one area, and it runs in increasing and then decreasing circles thoroughly around that spot (about a 3-foot diameter area) for a deeper clean, either in vacuum or mop mode. The iRobot Roomba Combo j7+ is the first floor-cleaning robot with a fully retractable mop. When it detects carpet, the robot automatically lifts its mopping plate out of the way, rests it on top of the device, and continues vacuuming. This allows the pricey 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop hybrid to complete both tasks in a single cleaning run.

If vacuuming and mopping just aren't happening, then you, because it's way better than not cleaning. While it works just fine as a vacuum, the SpinWave excels as a mop. While mopping, the SpinWave simultaneously sweeps, collecting a limited amount of dry debris. But for the best results, you should run it as a vacuum first before sending it out to mop.

Auto-stop: When you stand the mop upright, the spinning action stops, and you can leave it standing there to move furniture or answer a phone, etc. We think you still need to do a detail/base clean about once or twice a month using your regular vacuum and steam mop, but the robot is great for everyday maintenance Let’s say you have height differences between types of flooring in your home (for example, between a low-pile carpet and a hardwood floor). In that case, you’ll be glad to hear that the Bissell SpinWave can handle these transitions without any loss of operational performance. When it reaches the edge of a rug, it simply turns around in the other direction. It can even detect and avoid carpeting in mopping mode. That way, your carpets won’t get unnecessarily wet. Like most floor-cleaning robots, the SpinWave requires regular maintenance, which includes emptying and washing the dustbin after every few sessions, and periodically cleaning the brush roll and caster wheel. You'll also need to occasionally clean the edge brushes, or replace them altogether, to maintain optimal performance. Bissell offers maintenance instructions in the SpinWave manual, and how-to videos in its app.The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ excels at both mopping and vacuuming, making it an excellent choice for homes with multiple flooring types. In testing, it had no problem traversing tile, laminate, and carpet, or the transition strips that separate them. With 2,600Pa of suction power and the ability to empty its own dustbin into a hypoallergenic bag, it's also a compelling option for allergy sufferers and pet owners. With sensors and a front bumper, when you start the robot, it just heads out and figures out a way to cover 90-95% or more of most floor spaces around most obstacles. It can detect some obstacles and avoid bumping into them, but even when it does bump, it is very gentle and there has been zero damage to baseboards or furniture. The charging station is composed of two pieces: a base for the R5 to sit on when not in use and the charging bay itself. There’s a little cable management here as you can orient the direction of the power cable that plugs in underneath for a cleaner look. Since there’s no self-emptying functionality built-in, the charging station is relatively small. If it weren’t for the base, this part of the R5’s setup would be fairly discreet. Households that are not very cluttered will fare better. If you tend to store things on the floor or hide stuff under furniture, you would need to declutter a bit for best effect. Once everything is set up optimally, you can have it operate at night or when out of the house with no worries
