About this deal

Another thing I noticed was how tight the upper was around my midfoot and toe box. I usually always wear a size 8 but these were very snug and as I mentioned earlier, wished I would have gotten them a half size bigger. Stability: A- [Stable Neutral] ( Sidewalls, wide plate and heel counter all provide a solid amount of guidance for a neutral shoe).

David: The Mizuno Wave Rider is a daily training shoe for someone that enjoys the traditional feel of a high drop trainer. Normally I'm thinking the older Wave Rider, Pegasus, Cumulus, Ghost type training shoes in that category. The shoe has a little bit of rigidity up front and has a surprising amount of responsiveness when pushed. The foam provides good cushion throughout, though still maintains a ride more on the firmer end of things. This is a shoe that gives you a predictable ride mile after mile. That’s not to say they cannot be used for a race, some people may prefer comfort over anything else. David: The Mizuno Wave Rider is a neutral daily training shoe that provides a very "traditional" ride. The shoe does maintain a high drop from heel to toe like many older training shoes. With that said the transition is still well maintained when loaded and the decrease in flex grooves actually feels like it smoothens the forefoot out and makes it a little more poppy up front as well.

Mizuno Wave Rider 26 Conclusion

I received the color DIRECTOIRE BLUE-WHITE, not a huge fan but Mizuno has done a great job with offering them in many other colors that will surely please everyone’s taste. The closest shoe I can compare this to is the Nike Pegasus 38. That previously would have been my go-to daily trainer but these are a viable alternative and in some areas are an improvement. I get the impression the Wave Rider 26 will be more durable and last longer making this a perfect daily trainer. Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt:The best way to carry your phone and goods on the run. No bounce and various sizes for waist. (Also recommend the Naked belt) Personal: B ( A staple in my shoe lineup in case of a grump Achilles, but the heavier and clunkier ride makes me reach more for version 25. It is improving as the shoe breaks in, but feels more trainer-like than previous) My first impression when I opened the box was that I thought they were the Mizuno Wave Inspire 18s. They look very similar to one another and they felt alike.

The protection around the ankle is nicely constructed and feels soft. I find this really important for a daily shoe as it tends to be the area that can cause the most rubbing and eventual discomfort. The tongue is well cushioned down to the toe box keeping that area protected. The whole upper feels to be of high quality breathable materials, providing comfort. The whole shoe in general is made from recycled materials which is a real plus, for anyone who cares about the environment. The mesh on the upper, tongue and laces are made from recycled PET ( a form of recycled plastic). With the recognizable Wave form alongside the sole you can instantly tell our Mizuno running shoes apart from other brands. Suited for low to moderate pressure, both in weight as well as your running style. For short and long distances, up to the marathons our athletes run. Each stride was met with comfort and a good balance of snappiness. The high heel drop in this daily neutral trainer makes me think of models I have worn many years ago. It’s not a bad thing at all. When I first placed my feet into them I could immediately notice the 12mm heel drop. It’s a good mix-up to have in my running shoe rotation.

Ben Walmsley is an elite SportsShoes x Mizuno athlete, currently specialising in 10K to marathon distances. Lastly, the shoe’s weight is great, and it felt on the lighter end of some recent daily trainers I’ve tried. I think the foam helps with this.
