About this deal

Shopping for anything for babies and toddlers can be extremely overwhelming…there’s always what seems like a hundred options, and everyone has a different favourite! Choosing what to try, especially as a first-time parent who hasn’t tested any of them yet, can be stressful. Which is why I’m always happy to share my recommendations – I’ve tested manyyyy plates and bowls, and so can easily let you know which ones I prefer. Again, each person will have different things that are most important to them, and so you have to go with what works best for you, but hopefully this will at least help you narrow it down! Non-toxic material – no BPA, but I actually say to avoid plastics in general, if you can (AAP recommends avoiding use of plastics for anything that touches baby’s mouth/food). I’ve seen lovely charcuterie boards on round lazy suzan type boards, large rounds with handles. Get creative. My favorite places to shop for boards are TJ Maxx Home Goods and antique/second hand shops. OR….Home depot will literally cut you a piece any size you’d like. You can even make your own. Your child might not like every food you give him or her on the first try. Give your child a chance to try foods again and again, even if he or she does not like them at first. Children may need to try some foods many times before they like them. Here are some tips that might make trying foods again and again easier. Try again: Wait a couple of days before offering the food again. It can take more than 10 times before you toddler might like it.

Though we in the UK can’t claim to have created the concept either – see German Abendbrot, Greek mezze and Spanish tapas – it seems this nation is curiously protective of it. For many, it conjures up nostalgic memories of childhood teas when usual dinner procedures went out the window and in swept excitement and novelty. Sometimes, even cutlery was shunned in favour of fingers. We are huge advocates for sitting down and eating with your children and teaching your children one of the most important life skills, cooking. Cooking at home is healthier and less expensive! Fresh Rosemary and thyme looks great as some added greenery to your board. It smells good too. You’ll see I added some Rosemary springs around my board. Let’s talk cheeses and little plates and dishes you can use. Before I start anything else I like to choose first my board, because that will give me an idea how much I need for my board, second my cheeses and third, little dishes to include. I, on the other hand, could probably cause a pot of boiling water to catch on fire. Pretty much the only things that I “cook” either: 1) come out of a box 2) can be cooked completely in a microwave or 3) are salad.

It also introduces babies to a variety of textures early on, so that they don’t become reliant on only eating pureed or mashed food. Tasting Trays for Toddlers Tasting trays can be just as beneficial for toddlers as they typically move into the fussy eating stage. They can be made bright and colourful, injecting a bit of fun into a meal that would otherwise be a bit dull for a young child. Try freezing small bites of different foods. You can use these later and it avoids throwing a lot of food away.
