Prince Jones seems like he’s got it all figured out. After all, how else could a 17-year-old have become THE preeminent relationship expert on the Detroit airwaves? But one thing that’s still out of reach is how to balance being the primary caretaker for his family while also pursuing his own dream of becoming a DJ. I absolutely adored this story. From the very start I was enamored with these two characters. Both of them were very well-developed and likable. It was so easy to get behind them and cheer them on. They fit into one of two categories as well. Either they are strongly encouraging the main character to go after the love interest… The plan is to select and read a book every month, then discuss the work during the month’s last week (to give everyone time to read it!). I will post some questions/quotes to get things started, but I would love for this to grow into an open discussion with and between you all. Whenever possible I hope to have the author, or another prominent voice on the subject, join the conversation. As for Dani, she is eager to go to New York City and pursue her dream of writing, but she's struggling to finish her college application essays. Although her parents and friends would gladly help, Dani is keeping a traumatic secret that prevents her from reaching out to them. As a result, she avoids going out and having fun until Prince makes her reconsider letting down her guard.

In defiance of real-world toxic masculinity, Prince’s social circle is a beacon of positive male friendships. Meanwhile, Dani’s learning the hard way that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.* Some friendships grow with you, and some friendships you outgrow. While their first real encounter isn't perfect, the two definitely make an impression on one another. Are you willing to kiss all your spare cash goodbye? Are you easily distracted by independent bookshops, big name book stores, and library or used book sales? Are your bookshelves currently a little tight of space? Overall (and in spite of these distracting plot choices) it’s a necessary story for young teens on what is and isn’t a healthy relationship to maintain in one’s life as well as how valuable growth is.

In Love Radio, by Ebony LaDelle, readers meet two young characters at the time in their life when where they are dealing with major responsibilities; Prince, helping to care for his ailing mother, because of this, becoming the father figure in his brothers life all while working as a radio DJ with his own show, talking to callers about love all while playing music and Danielle, working hard to enter the college she desires more than anything, while focusing on her writing, her college essay in particular. LOVE RADIO is mega swoonworthy, effortlessly cool, and full of heart. Turn this one all the way up", Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE and ONE LAST STOP. I’m feeling what you felt growing up. A caged bird. I’m crying out to everyone and to no one at all. My mind is full of rage and hurt and… noise. I can’t escape my shrieks and cries and yet I’m unable to sing a song to the people I love the most. My family. My friends. Additionally, I liked how they learned to support each other and help one another work through their difficulties. I grimace as I switch my phone to silent mode and pull myself up and to my desk. It’s been over a year, and occasionally Destiny still randomly hits me up like everything is normal. I’m not ready to face her. I tried that already and she dismissed me, making me feel like I asked for it. So screw her. My favorite parts of the book were their individual parts. Dani and Prince both had passions for books and music respectively and it was beautiful!! I could feel the passion exuding out of the book and it’s always great when an author is able to get readers to actually feel the passion of their characters. It was also really smart for LaDelle to let Dani and Prince to both be supportive of each other with their passions to increase their connection with each other. Also, they both had individual struggles with Dani struggling with what happened at a party on an unfortunate night and Prince having a mother suffering from MS with dad not in the picture. This was something that the characters struggled to share with each other for a big part of the book, but LaDelle does a great job of letting them open up more and more to each other at the right times. So, when his Uncle offers him a segment on his popular hip-hop show, Love Radio, Prince graciously accepts. His mission, to give romantic advice to those seeking it. He is dishing advice and good music. It's perfect. I’d be lying if I said I’ve never watched these movies with her… multiple times… maybe more like thousands of times. But the verdict is still out on how I feel about them.
